National Military Family Association

The NMFA is a tremendous resource for congregations who want to reach out to military families. During the hour-long hearing, each Member asked several questions of each witness, allowing them the unprecedented opportunity to bring the full spectrum of military family issues before this subcommittee. Topics covered included military spouse education and employment opportunities, the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program, National Guard and Reserve issues, transition for wounded warriors and their caregivers between the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs systems, child care, Survivor Benefit Plan, the education of military children, and TRICARE concerns. The Association witnesses were also able to address the findings and implications of a recent RAND Corporation study it commissioned to explore the effects of deployment on military children and their caregivers.
