Chaplain Irmer goes forward!
Chaplain Doug Irmer, Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Beatrice, Nebraska has been deployed to Kyrgyzstan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. A snippet from his blog:
At 1:00 p.m. (1300 hrs) was the Lutheran Service of Holy Communion. There were four Lutherans and two non-Lutherans in attendance besides me. Every one of those four people said, “I’ve been waiting for you to come. I’m so glad you’re here.” After the service neither of the females present lingered to visit, they were both crying. These people were hungry for Word and Sacrament. It is also authorized to describe a service as “Lutheran”.
Our chaplains have the incredible privilege of bringing God’s Word and Sacrament to our military who serve on the front line. May God bless our chaplains! Pray that they would remain faithful in the face of adversity, and courageous in the face of danger. And as always, pray that they may remain safe as they serve both God and country.
